On Monday morning students walking to school in North Bergen, New Jersey were met with masked ICE agents who were interrogating teenagers about their immigration status without a parent or adult present.
When students walking to school tried to tell the agents that the boy they were questioning was a minor, the agents said “You’re 12 years old, get out of here … or we’ll arrest you for interfering.”
Governor Mikie Sherrill won her election by promising to be tough on ICE and protect children. Earlier this year she signed a package of bills including one to ban federal agents from wearing masks but none of her legislation has been implemented.
