cbsmiami A central Florida man was arrested after authorities said he dressed as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent to scare and intimidate voters at a Miami-Dade College polling site during Brazil’s presidential election Sunday. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 46-year-old Danilo Alves Silva at the college’s Kendall Campus after observing him wearing an ICE hat, raid jacket, tactical gear and carrying a radio as he moved between polling buildings. According to the arrest report, several voters became visibly afraid that an immigration agent was interfering with the election and could deport voters. Silva later admitted he was not a federal agent and said the outfit was a “prop costume” he purchased online. He told investigators he voted first, then changed into the costume and returned to record people’s reactions. Authorities said Silva became agitated after being detained and allegedly threatened a detective and others at the scene, saying he would “come after” them. He also allegedly offered money to the detective in exchange for being released. The college issued Silva a trespass warning, and he was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces charges of felony voting intimidation, bribery, threatening a public servant, unlawful use of police insignia and disorderly conduct. Read more at the link in bio. 🔗 View all 10 comments
