Mother and daughter detained by ICE after surviving a car accident.

Polk County Sheriff’s who actively participate in federal immigration enforcement through Trump’s 237(g) program took a mother and daughter while receiving medical attention at an Orlando, Florida hospital.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office, who made the arrests, told @telemundo51 that following the crash, their officers went to HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital to question both Grace Stephanie Calero Cabanilla and Giulianna Mía Carriel Calero, 19.

Both were taken from the hospital and remain in ICE custody.

The sister and aunt of the women, devastated, told Telemundo 51, that they were under a pending asylum process.

Officials also said they arrested a mother and daughter of Ecuadorian origin, after being discharged from the hospital, but the family member indicated (as shown int he video) that their niece still had the hospital gown on at the time of her arrest. @jessyhattinews , @telemundo51

Orlando’s police previously followed the 2018 Orlando Trust Act which prevented officers from questioning a person’s immigration status, but recent pressure from Florida state laws forced local agencies to change course.
