VIOLENT ICE ARREST LEADS SOUTH BAY FAMILY TO SUE, SAYS @PANGEALEGAL & @DISABILITYLAWUNITED ON JULY 6. THEY ARE SEEKING JUSTICE & REPARATIONS FROM NOTORIOUS PRIVATE PRISON CORPORATIONS GEO GROUP & CORECIVIC.

@HitUpSanJose was outside the Mountain View hospital where Ulises Peña Lopez was transported following an ICE attack on Feb. 21, 2025.

His brother told us the Sunnyvale resident was forced out of his truck by federal agents before being physically assaulted and suffering a panic attack, among other alleged health issues. @CSOSanJose, @SJPJC, @VivaMujer.SocialClub and more are among the organizations supporting his family as Ulises has since been deported.

His legal team said Ulises faced systematic mistreatment and abuse at the immigration detention centers Golden State Annex & California City Detention Center—leading to ongoing emotional harm to his wife Aby and their young daughter.

“I want the agencies and corporations involved to answer for the rights violations my family suffered,” Aby said. “I also hope this case sheds light on what many immigrant families are going through and ensures that no one else has to endure such a painful experience.”

The lawsuit joins a growing wave of lawsuits challenging abusive ICE and detention practices, said lead immigration attorney Elena Hodges

“We hope this case will send a powerful message to immigrant communities that they are not alone, and that ICE officials and private prison contractors are not above the law,” she said July 6.
