christinalorey “I WAS GOING TO SCHOOL!” 16-year-old Arnoldo Bazan screamed as ICE agents put him in a chokehold in a restaurant supply store. One agent held his knee into his father's neck, who tried to hide in the store. The agents chased the pair through Houston — ramming the father and son's car with their unmarked vehicle as they tried to escape. Bazan filmed much of the altercation on his phone. He told the agents he was a minor and that he was a citizen, but that didn't stop them. Eventually, after being questioned, Bazan was dropped off at his family home. His mother took him to the hospital because his injuries showed he had been choked. He was later moved to the trauma unit. The family then tried to file a police report, but were met with skepticism, so they needed to provide proof. Despite Bazan's phone being confiscated by ICE, he was able to use Find My to locate it. That's when he found out the officers had sold his phone to an electronic Likes vending machine near an ICE detention facility. Luckily, the footage was still on the phone, as confirmed by ProPublica. And yet, Houston police haven't interviewed the family. Bazan's sister says the officers told her, “We can't do anything. What can HPD do to federal agents?” On top of this, the family is also handling this without their father, Arnulfo Bazan Carrillo, who was deported after the incident.
