houstonchron For nearly 30 years, Zahra Razavinik built a life in Houston. She taught preschoolers at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, cared for her husband with a heart condition and regularly checked in with immigration officials while trying to secure a visa to another country. Now, the 66-year-old Iranian immigrant has spent six months in ICE detention after being taken into custody during a routine immigration check-in. Her attorneys argue she cannot safely return to Iran because she is a Christian and say no other country has agreed to accept her. They are asking a federal court to order her release.
