Yesterday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers “forcefully” arrested 17-year-old Bellaire High School student Alim Garipov at Hobby Airport.

According to educator Elizabeth Chapman, Garipov has a pending asylum case.

The family is currently seeking support.

“He is a kid,” Chapman said. “He has done everything right and more. He was afraid of making grammar mistakes in class; I’m sure being thrown around like a dangerous criminal is terrifying to him.”
