detentionwatch Jesus Manuel Arenas-Silva, 45, tragically died in ICE custody on July 13 while being transferred from the Irwin Detention Center to the Folkston Detention Center in Georgia. Pictured above is Jesus with his loving sister and nephew whom he lived with. Jesus Manuel was detained by ICE last Thursday. ICE targeted him at his home, a traumatic encounter for Jesus Manuel and his family. Jesus Manuel required medications for a medical condition he was dealing with. His sister said, "We implored ICE not to take him due to his medical needs, but they didn't listen to our pleas. They also ignored our request to at least allow him to take the medication with him, allowing only one medication." Jesus Manual later confirmed during a phone call to his sister that ICE did not give him the medication he needed. He went without medication during his detention until he tragically died in ICE custody on Monday. Let us be clear: ICE kills. No one is safe when ICE is present – whether on the streets like Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo or in ICE custody like Jesus Manuel Arenas-Silva. Their lives are of value. Beloved by their families and communities. #ICEKills #EndtheICEAge #ShutDownIrwin #CommunitiesNotCages View all 65 comments
