Elder Aguilar Macario, a senior at Trion High School, was driving to soccer practice when he was pulled over and taken into custody. Jaqueline Ramirez Juarez, an honors student at Cedartown High School, was also detained after a separate traffic stop despite reportedly having no criminal record. Both students had lived in the United States since they were KIDS and were only days away from finally graduating after years of classes, exams, sports, and preparing for the future they had worked toward for years. During graduation, their schools chose to honor them by placing framed portraits, caps, gowns, and reserved seats where they would have been sitting during the ceremony.
