Gilberto Garcia Cruz is one of hundreds of DACA recipients who have been detained by ICE since Trump’s inauguration, even though DACA is meant to protect people brought to the U.S. as kids. After about a week in detention in April, the 26-year-old was finally released back to his family — but others haven’t had the same outcome. At least 90 DACA recipients have been deported under Trump’s second term.
