UPDATE & GOFUNDME đź’” We are saddened to share that Alexander and Alexandra are scheduled to be deported TODAY, after being kidnapped and spending 4 days in ICE detention.
This is an unfortunate, though certainly not rare, outcome. We wish for Alexander and Alexandra’s safe travel and resettlement. We share their continued hope of eventual reunification of the Regnault family. 💗💗💗💗

Now more than ever, families like the Regnaults are facing devastation and family separation at the hands of ICE agents and the federal administration’s deportation machine. This is why we need the Access to Representation Act: the only bill in the NYS budget that would grant the right to a free immigration attorney to all immigrant New Yorkers. Currently, immigrant NYers left without legal representation are 10.7x more likely to receive removal orders in court. #care4if #ara
It is also crucial to note that Temporary Protected Status was repealed for Venezuelans in the US as of Fall 2025. These constantly changing rollbacks make navigating the immigration legal process nearly impossible without an attorney. They also have irreparable human impacts, as we saw when Alexander was kidnapped with his daughter in broad daylight. Alexandra, a pre-k student was ripped from her family and home, just days before her graduation at the Albany International Academy.
