Last week, Mojtaba was finally freed after 17 months in ICE detention.

Mojtaba fled his native Iran in 2024 after enduring years of escalating persecution by the Iranian government because of his participation in the Women, Life, Freedom movement. Last month, he won a bond hearing, but the Immigration Court set bond at $35,000—a seemingly impossible amount for someone who had spent every day of his time in the U.S. in ICE detention and had no family or support network in the country.

But hundreds of individuals and organizations rallied behind him and raised the money. Mojtaba is now safe and looking forward to building a life in New Jersey.

Thank you to everyone who helped!
