so.mexican Venezuelan asylum seeker Angel Camacho says he was detained by ICE after showing up for a scheduled job at a Border Patrol facility. Camacho, 43, has lived in the U.S. for nearly 10 years and says he has a work permit, Social Security number, driver’s license, and no criminal record. He is married to an American citizen and has American-born children while applying for permanent residency. According to reports, Camacho arrived at the work site after being cleared to enter, but agents were allegedly waiting for him when he arrived. He was later taken to the controversial “Alligator Alcatraz” detention facility before eventually being released on a $5,000 bond with ankle monitoring. “That’s the worst nightmare I’ve ever been in,” Camacho said, adding that he had never committed a crime.
