Luis Enrique Cuellar-Padilla, an asylum seeker from Colombia, has been detained for nearly 8 months, even though his "credible fear" application was approved.

He's been denied bond because immigration officials allege he's a flight risk, claiming that his ties to the community “aren’t strong enough.” But his legal team says Luis was detained because "things have changed in this hostile, anti-immigrant political climate." They note that since entering the U.S. in 2022, Luis hasn’t missed a single immigration check-in, court dates, or appointment, has held a stable job, and has a lease on his apartment.
