Nearly 10 months in ICE detention — most of it in El Paso — before Argam Nazarian finally walked free. “I feel like I’m in a dream,” he said just after being dropped off at an Albuquerque airport by ICE agents on Friday. A federal judge ruled his prolonged detention violated his constitutional rights, saying the government used the wrong legal authority to hold him — and kept him locked up without a bond hearing. A Christian fleeing religious persecution in Iran, Nazarian had been authorized to live and work here pending his immigration hearing for years before his arrest last summer. Now he’s out and reunited with family in Los Angeles. But his immigration case isn’t over.
