nessadiosdado Luis Fernando Cabrera, a senior at Northeast High School in Austin ISD, was detained by ICE early Friday morning, May 1, while leaving his job at Popeyes on Cameron Road. Currently held at the Karnes Detention Center, Luis now faces the possibility of missing his high school graduation just weeks away. He should be studying for finals right now. He is from Mexico and he entered the U.S. through the legal asylum process in sixth grade. He has since built a life centered on hard work and dedication. He is a varsity soccer goalie who helped lead his team to district and state championships while balancing a demanding daily routine: attending school, training, working late hours, and helping care for his nephew.
