LODI, Calif. —
A San Joaquin County family is pleading for help after a 72-year-old undocumented man was detained by federal immigration agents while heading to work.

“Right before he got to work, he was pulled over in front of the motel by unmarked cars,” said his granddaughter, Amarelis Caballero. Family members say Genaro Gonzalez-Uribe was detained Monday morning by federal agents. They describe him as a hardworking man who was headed to the job he’s held for 15 years. Now, they are searching for answers.

“My dad is not a criminal. He was going to work. I didn’t know that by you working, you’re a criminal. You’re not. You’re not bothering anybody. You’re not starting nothing with nobody,” said his daughter, Magdalena Gonzales.

Detentions like this can happen for a range of reasons, including prior immigration violations or administrative issues. However, his family says he has no prior deportations, no removal orders, and no criminal history. #lodi #lodicalifornia #209 #lodiwine
