charlotteobserver Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a man suspected of being in the country illegally after he dropped off his pregnant wife and children at a Mecklenburg County health office, according to the advocacy group Siembra NC. The agency arrested Elmer Flores after he took his family to the Mecklenburg County Health Department Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children on March 9, according to Siembra. His wife had an appointment that day, Siembra said in a news release. He had no criminal record, the group said, and is being held at a detention facility in Georgia. “These cases are deeply concerning because people are being detained at places where they go to support their families,” Siembra NC Defense Manager Andreina Malki said in a statement.
