On Saturday, April 4th, ICE agents kidnapped a community member on Cranston Street in the West End – chasing him down, crashing into his car, and smashing his window to take him. Several neighbors watched as this violence unfolded.

City officials claim there are limits on police cooperation with ICE. But when Providence Police responded to the car crash, the police tried to get community members to disperse, effectively working with ICE. This confirms what the people already knew – that the police and ICE serve the same interests.

ICE is a public danger. This is the third time that the Deportation Defense Line has responded to a call where ICE caused an accident in order to kidnap someone. We have also seen them use this tactic across the country, including in Georgia, where ICE initiated a high-speed pursuit resulting in a fatal car crash that killed Linda Davis, an elementary school teacher.

The police and ICE are both weaponized against the people to make us feel powerless to stop the violence being unleashed on us.

But our community is not powerless! The people gathered in large numbers despite threats from ICE and police. When we’re organized, we can protect each other.

Save the defense line number — 401-675-1414.
Spread the word, and show up when ICE is seen.

ICE off our streets! ICE out of everywhere!
