stopaapihate Since his return to the White House, Trump has deported more than 2,000 Southeast Asian (SEA) Americans. Approximately 15,000 more SEA Americans are being threatened with the same fate — including Hai Nguyen. Nguyen is one of many SEA refugees who fled violence tied to U.S. bombings and other military interventions in their home countries. At just 8 years old, Nguyen was adopted and brought to the U.S. after his birth father was killed by the Vietnamese government. Now, Nguyen's wife and children are bracing for a future without him. During what was supposed to be a routine immigration appointment, Nguyen was disappeared by ICE — all because of a nonviolent conviction that was expunged from his record several years ago. This is double punishment for a person who already served their time — and since Trump's re-election, it's happening to more and more SEA refugees. We're disgusted by Trump's willingness to use this community — made up of survivors of war, displacement, and trauma — as his scapegoats. View all 42 comments
