A North Carolina man who says he voted for Donald Trump is now suing federal immigration authorities after a confrontation he claims left him injured and abandoned.
Willy Wender Aceituno, a U.S. citizen, has filed a $1.25 million lawsuit against the federal government over an encounter with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Charlotte. According to the complaint, Aceituno alleges agents shattered his truck window, forcibly pulled him from the vehicle, and left him “bleeding and in pain” about two miles away.
The lawsuit claims violations of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments along with assault and battery, false imprisonment, and negligent supervision. Video circulating online appears to show federal agents breaking the window of a vehicle during the stop while the driver remains inside.
Aceituno later told reporters the experience changed how he views his past political support, saying voting for Donald Trump was “the worst decision” of his life.
The lawsuit seeks $1.25 million in damages for injuries and emotional distress he says resulted from the incident.
