This week N+ Univision reporter Lidia Terrazas told the world about Juan Nicolas, a two-month-old baby and the youngest detainee currently in ICE custody. Juan Nicolas and his mother, Mireya López Sánchez, are currently being held at a family detention center in Dulles, Texas.
Due to the poor conditions, rotten food, unclean water and high stress, Mireya stopped producing milk for her baby and she can’t use the water in the facility for formula because it’s contaminated and made him sick.
Juan Nicolas is getting sicker each day and early this morning, according to his mother, he suffered a medical emergency. He has not been seen by a doctor because there is not one on site and immigration officials won’t send them to a hospital.
Local and federal leaders like Rep. Joaquin Castro are demanded the baby’s release.
