Donna Hughes-Brown was brought to an ICE detention facility when returning home from a trip to Ireland to visit relatives.⁠

She was stopped and detained over two cheques she had written when her bank account was overdrawn over 10 years ago, the two cheques totalled less than $80.⁠

Ms Hughes-Brown was held for almost 5 months before being freed last week.⁠
⁠
She is a green card holder and has lived in the US since she was 11 years old, she told the press that she would not be visiting Ireland until she is a full-US citizen out of fear of being deported.⁠
