projectreliefme Yesterday, Ahmed was detained by ICE while on his way to a routine immigration check-in something he has consistently complied with. He committed no crime. He was taken into custody simply because he is an immigrant. The goal of ice is to deport every immigrant that they abduct, but we will not allowed to happen. Ahmed is a nursing student and a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant who is deeply involved in the community. He spent much of his early life in the Dadaab refugee camps before immigrating to the United States around 2023 in search of safety, stability, and opportunity. He has no criminal history, has never been arrested, and has always followed the rules and expectations placed before him. He is here legally and has a work permit. This action has shaken the entire community, especially those who know Ahmed and the kind of person he is. It is devastating to see someone who is dedicating his life to caring for others and working toward a better future treated this way. We ask the community to stand with Ahmed, speak out against this injustice, and help secure legal support for his release so he can return to his studies and continue his path toward becoming a nurse. Every time ICE abducts someone from our community, we will do everything in our power to bring them home. We will not allow them to win. Ahmed is currently being held in New Hampshire. We are working to raise $6,000 for his legal fees to secure his release. This is a young man with his entire future ahead of him. He risked everything to come to this country for a better life, and we cannot allow ICE to destroy it. All amount of donations will add up and support Ahmed. When immigrants are abducted by ICE, they will likely be transferred to a far away state like Texas if they don’t have legal representation right now. This prevents them from being close to their community.
