He saw what happened after ICE agents approached Ochoa and Thompson says they chased, tackled and detained Ochoa at the store where he is an employee.Thompson adds it was hard to identify the individuals as ICE agents, forcing those watching to call local police.“We were trying to figure out all they replied back while this was going on because I said ‘are you ice agents? Who are you?’ and I said ‘someone call the police’ because we need to get this figure out something's going on and when I asked they said federal agents,” Thompson said. “So I said, ‘Who are you with and are you a cop? What federal agency are you with?’ still no answer"He says though he and the other employees at the store repeatedly asked the agents to identify themselves they were hesitant to share that information. Thompson also mentioned, ICE agents were being physically aggressive during the arrest."Besides them not identifying themselves one of the ICE agents was putting his knee on the man's [Jorge’s] head and then when he was on the ground he took out his taser and he ramped it up," Thompson said.Thompson described the scene as violent and said it was disruptive to the store."The Hispanic guy got up and he was trying to run back inside. At first it was one white male that we saw that was trying to detain him and he was bolting after him. So us and the other employees kind of ran after him then lo and behold another will say the ice agent comes up behind us and tries to tackle the individual as well," he said.Iowa News Now was told that Iowa City officials didn't know about the operation taking place. The Iowa City police that came to the store because they were called to address the disturbance and didn't know that there was an arrest being made. By the time they arrived the arrest was complete."Some of his friends that knew him were crying and talking to me asking what happened. I guess they didn't know what was going on when the cops came. They [Iowa City Police] weren't aware that ICE agents were around and that they were gonna do this, but it seemed like there was not much that could be done," Thompson said. The reason Thompson wanted to share this video is to show what was taking place in that establishment."I will not be on the wrong side of history when this all goes down. I stayed silent that, I kept my voice quiet.” he said.
