Chris Helms, The EnterpriseFri, June 5, 2026 at 9:27 PM UTC89991156007 BROCKTON — Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested two men outside Sabores Latinos, an Ecuadorian restaurant on North Main Street in Brockton early on Thursday, June 4.Tony Heredia, a U.S. citizen from Brockton, said he was detained, handcuffed and punched in the face by an agent during the incident. Heredia, 20, said ICE vehicles had been following his roofing crew's van when it turned in to the parking lot of Sabores Latinos. Heredia said they were picking up other roofers for a job in Boston when at least six ICE vehicles surrounded them.Heredia said officers initially refused to give him their names and badge numbers. Heredia told The Enterprise in a Friday, June 5, phone interview he recalled telling ICE, "I know my rights. You can't control what I say."Heredia said ICE detained him after accusing him of spitting at an agent, but he said it was saliva from him yelling.Heredia posted video on social media of him berating the officers as they left. In the video, which contains language some readers may find offensive, one officer said she gave him her badge number. At the end of the video, Heredia spits on one of the law enforcement cars.Heredia says his wrists were left swollen from the cuffs and that an agent punched him three times in the face with his fist. He said he is consulting an attorney about possible charges against the officer.ICE Boston said in a written statement it took the two men because of previous arrests and charges on alleged driving violations. Pending charges against him include operating a vehicle with a suspended license and having a child in a motor vehicle with a car seat, the agency said.The other man had previous arrests for operating a vehicle after a suspended license, negligent operation and hit-and-run damage to property, ICE said. He has a pending charge of operating after a suspended license. The ICE spokesperson said this man was subject to a "final order of removal."“Our message is clear: if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, arrest you, and you will never return," the ICE spokesperson said. "Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States,” a reference to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.ICE said the two men will remain in custody pending removal.Heredia said he saw three members of his roofing crew taken away, not two.
