Mega master hearings and in-person requirements have lengthened immigration court lines in Miami, forcing families to wait hours outdoors under restrictive conditions.Roxana Valladares, a 29-year-old Salvadoran mother, arrived at Miami immigration court at 4 a.m. with her six-year-old son after packing essentials and calling an Uber. She secured third place for a 1 p.m. hearing as her son slept with a fever and breathing difficulty. Since last month, courts began scheduling groups of 100 or more people in mega master hearings, stretching lines around the parking lot and Metromover area to Southeast 3rd Street. This week, Miami restricted Webex virtual hearings and required in-person appearances, with waits sometimes lasting up to two hours outdoors. Courtrooms inside hold at most about 20 people, increasing congestion and waiting time. #immigration-courts #miami #mega-master-hearings #in-person-hearings #webex-restrictions[|]
