GADSDEN COUNTY, Florida — A 28-year-old man residing in Gadsden County has been taken into custody following an immigration investigation that uncovered a potential mass attack plot, according to the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.The suspect, identified as Louis Duxbury, was found to be using social media platforms to disseminate anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and had recently posted a video discussing mass shootings. Further investigation revealed that Duxbury, originally from the United Kingdom, had a prior conviction for "inciting religious hatred" and had served an 18-month prison sentence for the crime.On February 25, 2026, Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigators confirmed that Duxbury was residing in the United States on an expired tourist visa, classifying him as an "over-stay," according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He was located at his residence in Quincy, Florida, and arrested for immigration violations. Duxbury was subsequently transported to the Gadsden County Jail and held on a 287(g) ICE detainer.Sheriff Young emphasized the importance of collaboration between local and federal law enforcement in preventing threats and mass attacks against U.S. citizens. "This case is a glaring example of how law enforcement partners at the local and federal level can effectively thwart threats and mass attacks against citizens of the U.S.," stated Sheriff Young.The sheriff also expressed gratitude to the citizens who provided information leading to Duxbury's apprehension.
