CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Two California children were reunited with their dog this week after their parents were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.The children’s parents were taken into custody in Chula Vista last week after dropping the children off at school.The boys, ages 4 and 12, have been staying with a family friend while their dog was surrendered to a local shelter.The family’s story aired on the local news, prompting a viewer to reach out and foster the dog until the family’s immigration case is resolved.The children had the chance to reunite with their dog, Bella, on Tuesday.The parents are working with an attorney and local officials to get their case resolved.They said they came to the U.S. legally in 2022 under temporary protected status for Venezuelans.A hearing before an immigration judge is set for Feb. 9.Copyright 2026 KGTV via CNN Newsource.
