(Willmar MN-) Willmar Schools Superintendent Dr. Bill Adams says there are no plans to go to on-line learning due to the presence of ICE in the community. Many parents have kept their kids home from school this week due to ICE, and some districts, like St. Paul, plan to go to an online format next week. Adams says in Willmar, they believe the best place to learn is in the classroom. But he acknowledges some may be scared to leave their homes, and says if necessary, they will work with those students and parents to come up with an alternative plan... Adams reminds district residents that ICE, and any outside group for that matter, is not allowed to enter the schools and talk to kids without a warrant and without parental involvement... About 3000 kids attend school in Willmar everyday...on Tuesday there were more than 1200 absences. While many are likely due to ICE fears, this is also cold and flu season.
