SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — Lawyers for a Summerville restaurant owner charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor say the accusations don't line up with the facts on the ground, in a newly released statement. "That charge is unfounded and unsupported by the facts," the statement reads. "Any reasonable person who reviews what actually occurred—not rumors, not online gossip—but what actually happened, will reach the same conclusion: the facts do not match the allegation."Dinah Marie Chollet's charge stems from an investigation by a Summerville High School resource officer who monitored an Instagram group titled “Summerville Walkout,” which was created by students organizing an anti-ICE protest for Feb. 20.A Summerville restaurant owner was charged this week after police say she entered an online group chat for Summerville High School students and encouraged participants to join a planned school walkout (WCIV)READ MORE | "Summerville business owner accused of influencing teens in school walkout group."The chat included roughly 80 members between the ages of 14 and 18, according to the incident report. Students discussed plans to leave campus during school hours and repeatedly discussed disrupting the school day. Chollet entered that chat on Feb. 10, using the business Instagram account under the business account and identified herself as 'Dinah Yo,' authorities said. She later attempted to switch to her personal account.Chollet told students she supported the walkout, praised those participating and indicated a group of adults would join them.Her comments, officers wrote, appeared to influence students who later made threats of vandalism and violence toward a specific individual. Juveniles in the group responded enthusiastically to her involvement and thanked her for her support, according to the police report.In the days after the charges were made public, a post on The Knot Burger Pub, where she is a co-owner, made light of the situation. "Yes. We’ve all seen the mugshot," the post reads. "Yep, that’s my big ol’ forehead. Had it my whole life. So if that’s the punchline, I promise you I’ve heard better. And no orange isn’t my color."
