ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) – A U.S. citizen shared her experience of being arrested and detained by ICE Wednesday afternoon.Rep. Samakab Hussein (DFL-Saint Paul) hosted Nasra Ahmed, 23, to share her story to news crews.Hussein said Ahmed was detained for two days last week despite being a U.S. citizen, born and raised in Minnesota.Ahmed said ICE approached her in her predominantly Somali neighborhood.“I was screaming, I was crying. I was so scared, like, never been arrested in my life,” Ahmed said.Ahmed claimed the arrest was forceful leading to scab on her head. The area was bandaged at the press conference.She added that an ICE officer reportedly used a racial slur against her.“This has to stop,” Hussein said. KTTC has reached out to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a statement on Ahmed and Hussein’s claims Wednesday but did not hear back by this story’s publication.KTTC will update this story when ICE responds.
