NITRO, W.Va. –A Mexican national who was living illegally in Nitro pleaded guilty to several charges Monday. Rosmery Morales-Mejia, also known as Rosita Mejia-Perez, 27, pled guilty to fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents. Morales-Mejia was also sentenced to time served. She will now be subject to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer for her transfer to ICE administrative custody for removal proceedings. A release from U.S. Attorney’s office, stated that from June 28, 2025 to January 16, 2026, Morales-Mejia had used a counterfeit Immigration Form I-551, which is also known as a Permanent Resident Card or Green Card to obtain employment at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in Nitro. She has admitted that she and her husband, Wilmar Aristo Pablos-Miguel, both purchased these counterfeit Green Cards and a counterfeit Social Security card, and that they both knew they were counterfeit and used them anyway’s to obtain empowerment at the restaurant. Morales-Mejia also admitted that her and her husband had rented a room from the restaurant owner Miguel-Aguirre-Arello Sr., in a house owned behind the restaurant. She and her husband are among six illegal aliens who were indicted following the search warrant executed at the restaurant. Pablos-Miguel, 42, and Jose Alfredo Cruz-Perez, 22, have also pleaded guilty to the same charges and have ICE immigration detainers pending. Owner of the restaurant, Aguirre-Arello Sr., 65, and his son restaurant manager Miguel Angel Aguirre, 43, have been indicted on charges alleging each harbored aliens, while aiding and abetting each other, and aided and abetted fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents.
