An Oakmont resident who was detained by ICE has now been released from custody, officials confirmed Saturday. According to Oakmont Borough Councilperson Jim Parsons, Jose Flores was being released from custody and will soon be reunited with his family. The news comes weeks after a neighbor of Flores's reported that he was detained by ICE agents along College Avenue while preparing to go to work and take his daughter to school. Parsons said Mark Serrao, the owner of Oakmont Bakery and Flores's boss, was on his way to pick him up from a facility in Pennsylvania. Action News 4 briefly spoke to Serrao over the phone, who said Flores was with him on their way back to the area. Oakmont Borough Councilperson Parsons said Jose was released with electronic monitoring and will have a hearing on Feb. 19 in Newark, New Jersey.
