S. Naval Academy midshipman David Garcia, was deported to Mexico Wednesday night after being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.Rocha was detained by ICE on Aug. 25 while attending a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office for a green-card interview, according to Congressman Joaquin Castro’s office. Maria should be home, not torn apart from her family and life.”Article continues below this adCastro had previously called on ICE to release Rocha, accusing the Trump administration of targeting military families. He also traveled to the Dilley facility last week for his ninth visit there this year, accompanied by members of ICE Office of Congressional Relations. In his post Thursday, Castro again criticized the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts, writing, “we cannot allow the president’s mass deportation campaign to destroy more families for profit.”According to Castro’s office, Garcia began his time as a U.S. Naval Academy midshipman this summer.
