PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The City of Portland spent nearly $1.65 million responding to protest activity at the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility on South Macadam Avenue, according to records obtained by FOX 12 through a public records request.The records show total response costs of approximately $1.65 million from multiple city bureaus, with the Portland Police Bureau accounting for more than $1.52 million of the total.Police overtime represented the largest expense. Records indicate officers logged more than 16,200 overtime hours tied to the response, resulting in roughly $1.27 million in overtime pay. Overall, police personnel logged more than 20,000 hours connected to the demonstrations.The records also show the Portland Fire & Rescue Bureau incurred more than $106,000 in costs, while the Bureau of Emergency Communications reported about $15,700 in expenses. The city additionally spent more than $53,000 on food associated with the response.Most of the spending occurred during the fall of 2025. City records show response costs exceeded $853,000 in October and another $359,000 in November, accounting for nearly three-quarters of the total spending reflected in the documents.The records were released in response to a FOX 12 request seeking city spending related to protest activity and public safety operations at the ICE facility located at 4310 S.
