U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested more than a dozen people at a grocery store in West Norriton, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday. Léelo en español aquí An ICE spokesperson told NBC10 federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations as well as the IRS responded to the Super Gigante - West Norriton Farmers Market on 1930 West Main Street to conduct a federal court-authorized search. “During the execution of the search warrant, 14 individuals were encountered who did not have legal status to be in the United States,” the spokesperson told NBC10. “These 14 individuals were taken into ICE custody pending removal proceedings.” NBC10 confirmed at least one of the people taken into custody was a worker at the store. The spokesperson told NBC10 the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation and didn't provide further details. West Norriton Police told NBC10 they also responded to the grocery store to help keep the peace. Activist Stephanie Vincent recorded ICE agents taking the individuals into custody. They’re not wanted. There are children crying at night worried about their parents being taken from them.” Community members are reacting after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested 14 people at a grocery store in West Norriton, Pennsylvania. NBC10's Deanna Durante has the story. Agencies assisting the loved ones of those who were detained told NBC10 some of the individuals were taken to facilities in the Poconos. They didn't have any additional details on where they were being held. "I just left him and it was like ten minutes ago. It passed," the wife of one of the men taken into custody told NBC10. "They told me that all the ICE people was there. They couldn't run. They couldn't say anything. And he just left me a message saying, 'Thank you for everything.' And I was like, 'What? What is happening?'" The incident was one of several ICE raids that have recently occurred in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. In a statement, a county spokesperson told NBC10 Montgomery County has no authority over the municipalities and police departments. “Each municipality has independently elected officials who make their own policy decisions related to their municipal employees, including their local police departments," the spokesperson wrote. "Montgomery County’s policy is in place to ensure that all County employees only share information with federal agents when required by law and/or accompanied by a judicial warrant.”
