(KATU) — A federal agent was seen pulling a weapon on a vehicle entering Portland's Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility on Monday night.According to a KATU crew, federal officers made way for a group of vehicles to exit the ICE building when another vehicle entered the area to go into the ICE facility.That is when the agent pulled a gun out and told the driver to get back, though moments later, another agent showed up signaling that the driver works at the facility.Minutes later, federal officers detained two people, fired tear gas, flash bangs and pepper balls into the crowd of protesters, angering them.Federal officers detain someone at the ICE facility in South Portland, Oregon on Monday night, Oct. 13, 2025. (KATU)Meanwhile, a handful of protesters were seen carrying shields outside the ICE building.The group was seen walking toward a growing encampment and mixing in with the crowd as protesters faced off with federal agents.The KATU crew saw a band playing music criticizing ICE agents.“This is not, you know, the way Portland operates. This, the fear mongering, that there's fires and it's out of control. Absolutely not,” said Rick Kubiniec of Vancouver, Washington. “I don't think there's -- this myth of antifa as a homogeneous group that has leadership and cells. This is not antifa. This is people who are trying to be heard, who are trying to do what's right.”Meanwhile, Oregon is still waiting on ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on a decision on whether the Trump administration can legally deploy the National Guard.
