by Erika EsquivelThu, April 24, 2025 at 8:45 AMLuddis Norelia Sanchez Garcia (credit: ERO El Paso)EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A U.S. District Judge is expected to decide Friday whether a Venezuelan couple can remain in the United States after one of them was accused of being a member of the Tren de Aragua gang.Luddis Norelia Sanchez Garcia and her husband, Julio Cesar Sanchez Puentes, were detained last week at the El Paso International Airport by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The couple, who have been living in Washington, D.C., were in El Paso to address charges of crossing the border illegally in 2022, according to their attorney.This marks the third time the couple has been arrested. Prosecutors argued that Luddis was allegedly identified in a photograph depicting members of the gang. Currently, the couple is being held at the El Paso Detention Center pending the judge's decision."It's important to note the judge ended the hearing by telling the couple they would be free," said their attorney.
