Minneapolis has released video footage of a non-fatal shooting involving a federal agent back on Jan. 14.The video, which was captured by a city-owned camera, shows an apparent pursuit into a home as police lights appear near North Lyndale Avenue and North 24th Avenue.WARNING: The video below is unedited from the city. Some viewers may find it upsetting.What it showsThe 9-minute video doesn’t provide a great view of what happened, but it at least offers more of a glimpse into the incident, which left one man shot by an immigration agent.Roughly 2.5 minutes into the video, two cars are shown stopping at the end of the block. Two men then run in the street toward a house. However, as they get to the front porch, the first man slips and the second man, apparently the federal agent, jumps on top of the first man.After a few seconds in an apparent struggle, the first man is able to get up and run into the home, and the agent waits outside as a squad car pulls up.ControversyWhat the video shows is very different from what federal agents initially said about the incident.RELATED: DHS: Federal agent shoots man in leg in Minneapolis after pursuit, attack with shovelIn the immediate aftermath, Homeland Security officials claimed an undocumented immigrant tried to run away during a traffic stop. After a brief chase, DHS said a struggle ensued and two people came out of an apartment and assaulted an agent with a shovel and broomstick, and the agent then fired his gun and struck the man.RELATED: Neighbors, DHS share conflicting stories on federal agent shooting in north MinneapolisNeighbors, however, disputed that account and claimed ICE agents hit the man’s vehicle, then shot through his door and into his home, injuring him.RELATED: Government moves to dismiss charges against men in ICE-involved shooting, citing ‘newly discovered evidence’Charges were initially filed by federal prosecutors against Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis and Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna but were later dismissed, citing “newly discovered evidence in this matter is materially inconsistent with the allegations in the complaint affidavit … as well as the preliminary-hearing testimony.”The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said the incident is still under active investigation and that it is unable to comment at this time.In a statement to KSTP, the Department of Homeland Security said it reviewed video evidence of the shooting, which revealed that the testimony given by the officers appeared to be untrue. Both officers were put on administrative leave and could be fired or criminally charged after ICE and the U.S. DOJ finish their investigation.“The men and women of ICE are entrusted with upholding the rule of law and are held to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct,” the statement reads, in part. “Violations of this sacred sworn oath will not be tolerated.”KSTP reached out to Robin Wolpert, the attorney for Sosa-Celis, for comment on the newly released video.“The video is evidence in ongoing federal and state investigations, and I can’t comment,” Wolpert said in a message left with KSTP.Minneapolis has released video footage of a non-fatal shooting involving a federal agent back on Jan. 14.
