Update: On Tuesday, August 4th a RI Judge ruled that ICE violated Chansareth Hong's rights and ordered he be released from the Wyatt Detention Center! More info here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DbyGzK3keMy/?img_index=1 Post release and with the widespread support of the community, the Hong family was also finally able to secure an attorney to fight Chansareth’s case and open pathways for immigration relief. Although this is great news, this does not mean the fight or need is over. Unfortunately, while trying to fight his case, preparing for his check-in, and being stuck inside the Wyatt for almost two additional weeks this and last month, Chansareth fell behind on rent and bills. As the sole provider for his elderly mother and autistic son that live with him, this has been incredibly hard on the family. Hiring an attorney is also very costly, and fighting Chansareth’s case can take months due to the courts. That is precisely why we are still asking folks to help fundraise for the Hong family to ensure their wellbeing and ability to fight ICE's continued attempt to deport Chansareth. We are stronger together than apart! Thank you all for your support in donating and spreading this gofundme. Please stay tuned for further updates!
