(Jen Rickling via AP)(TNND) — A U.S. Army staff sergeant is seeking the release of his wife after she was detained by immigration agents at the military base where he is stationed, an attorney representing the family confirmed to ABC News.Staff Sgt. Matthew Blank, 23, and his wife, Annie Ramos, 22, were at Fort Polk, Louisiana, on April 2 to register her as a military spouse when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents entered the facility and detained her, according to Blank’s mother.Blank said in a statement released by TheDream.US that he had been attempting to complete the process for his wife to obtain a military ID and begin applying for a green card.Blank’s attorney, Jessie Schreier, said Ramos was born in Honduras and was issued a removal order in 2005, when she was 20 months old.“Annie Ramos is currently detained for enforcement of a removal order issued in 2005,” Schreier said, adding that the order could be carried out at any time.Ramos applied for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), but her application was put on hold amid ongoing legal challenges to the program, according to Schreier.A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told ABC News that Ramos “has no legal status to be in this country and was issued a final order of removal by a judge.”“She illegally crossed the southern border and entered the U.S. in February 2005,” the spokesperson said. “After she failed to show up for her immigration hearing, she was issued a final order of removal by a judge on April 7, 2005.”Ramos is currently being held at an ICE detention facility in Basile, Louisiana.Blank said he is continuing efforts to secure her release.
