MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WFSB) - Dozens gathered in Middletown on Saturday morning to protest after a Southern Connecticut State University nursing student was arrested by ICE agents earlier this week.Middlesex Indivisible held a peaceful protest at Washington and Main streets. Protesters held signs criticizing ICE and federal immigration policies following the arrest.A board member said a person in their 20s was arrested on Tuesday morning after agents followed them from a courthouse in Middletown.Participants said they are fed up with ICE activity in the area and want agents out of Middletown and Connecticut.“We are standing in unity, and people who can’t stand are showing their support by beeping and waving and they agree with us,” said Rebecca Mainetti, a protester. “There are more people out here beeping and waving than not.”Susan Glass, a Middlesex Indivisible board member, said people are now afraid to go to court.“People are just trying to get their matters served,” Glass said. “They might be going there for parking tickets, to pay child support, who knows. And now they’re afraid to go into court.
