The El Reno Police Department said it was on the scene to help last week when some detainees were moved from one bus to another while others were taken away in ambulances. The situation happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at an Allsup's gas station off Interstate 40 and Banner Road. Officers responded to the convenience store after several people on the bus experienced heat-related issues. Details are very limited as to what police could say, but there were about 26 female detainees on the bus. >> Download the KOCO 5 App | Subscribe to KOCO 5’s YouTube channel | Sign up for KOCO 5’s Morning Newsletter Police said they oversaw the situation, which a source close to KOCO said related to a bus transporting detainees from Texas to an ICE facility in Watonga. With about 45 minutes left in the trip, the bus driver pulled into the gas station after several women had heat and glucose problems. KOCO learned it was about 85 degrees that day. In a packed bus with dozens of people, that could feel even hotter. >> Video Below: Vietnamese man living in US since childhood detained by ICE over expunged marijuana chargePolice said they aren't sure how many people left in ambulances, but others were put on a second bus and taken to the detention center. KOCO 5 reached out to local hospitals and is waiting to hear back. Without names of those involved, it is more difficult to confirm what happened. KOCO also reached out to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to see what they could tell us about the situation. The department said it would provide KOCO with information, but that information was not received as of 6 p.m. Monday.Top Headlines TIMELINE: Severe storms with tornado risk continue Monday, throughout week Is your mayor this cool?
