(SBG San Antonio)HIDALGO, Texas (WOAI) — Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers detained a man who was attempting to smuggle three adults and a child from Guatemala into the U.S.The video posted by DPS shows troopers talking to the group.Officials said they were dropped off on the U.S. side of the border by someone in a raft in Hidalgo County.Authorities added they were picked up by a man identified as Javier Ruiz, an accused smuggler from Mexico.Troopers attempted to stop Ruiz, who is said to have abandoned the family in a brush area.Ruiz was taken into custody and has been charged with human smuggling.
