She never had any crime.”Recently filed court documents say the woman was initially ordered to be removed from the United States in 2012 but was granted protection. Steven Thal, her immigration attorney, adds she was granted ‘withholding of removal’ status, which means she can’t be deported to her native country.RELATED: Push to release Apple Valley mother from federal custodyThal says he hasn’t heard back from the Immigration Court about a request for a bond hearing, and says that a co-counsel filed a writ of habeas corpus, asking the government to explain why she was detained.
